Linda has been serving Niagara-on-the-Lake and the surrounding areas since 2005 and can assist couples and individuals, including actors.

About Linda Attoe R.P.

Linda Attoe is an experienced counsellor and psychoanalytic psychotherapist who, for years, has used the power of mindfulness, counselling and psychoanalytic psychotherapy to help clients improve their health and sense of wellbeing.

With her calm and focused manner, Linda works with you to address life concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, anger, relationships and more. Linda also works with individuals who wish to distance themselves from, or who are struggling to cope after having left, high-demand groups or cults.

While symptom relief is most often the primary goal for clients, Linda can also help you begin to look at your complete life picture, since an understanding of experiences in the past as well as goals for the future can help us to live our lives more fully in the present. In this way, as best we can, we may experience less of “history repeating itself.”

In her first career, Linda was a State-Certified Midwife and State-Certified Nurse for England and Wales. Building upon that life experience, Linda has studied in a variety of areas which she uses to help clients move past barriers toward improved health:

Providing a Holistic Perspective

Linda uses a variety of holistic and clinical approaches to help adults and couples who are struggling with various issues that block them from achieving their goals. Depending on your goals for therapy, Linda uses counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, emotionally-focused couples’ therapy and other therapeutic modalities to help with your life concerns. Her therapeutic perspective is client-centred and eclectic, as she works with you on past, present and/or future life concerns.

Psychotherapy / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

If you choose to work in this modality, psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help you to increase awareness of your inner world (both your conscious and non-conscious understanding of your world), as well as its influence on your relationships (with yourself and others), both past and present.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy / Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

This psychotherapy approach combines cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness to allow you to break the cycle of self-judgment and negative thought patterns. Journaling and tracking your feelings can be an important part of this process. Together we will consider questions such as, “How true is that statement – is it 100% true? Can we think of additional ways to think about that?


This allows you to explore your challenges and emotions in a trusting and nonjudgmental environment where you can consider your situation from a new perspective. When using the therapeutic intervention of counselling, Linda actively provides you with professional advice and recommendations.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Linda introduces almost every client to this structured approach of calming mind and body to better deal with common issues such as depression, anxiety and even chronic pain. While remaining mindful in the moment herself, Linda can help you to learn the valuable process of bringing your attention back to what is happening with your thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations, in the moment, right now.

Emotionally Focused Couples' Therapy

And finally, if you have requested couple’s therapy, Linda uses aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy to work with you and your partner on negative communication patterns that can be present for couples, in their attachment-based love bond.
