This document outlines my office policies related to use of Social Media. Please read it
to understand how I conduct myself on the Internet as a mental health professional and
how you can expect me to respond to various interactions that may occur between us
on the Internet.
Friending- I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on
any social networking site. Adding clients as friends/contacts can compromise your
confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our
therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions on this, please bring them up when
we meet.
Interacting- I don't professionally use Twitter, Facebook, and other messaging systems
and prefer to use email or phone for communication. If needed, a text may be sent to
indicate you are running late for an appointment. Please note ,however, that texting is
not as secure of a communication modality and could compromise your confidentiality.
All emails, texts, phone calls and other contact between sessions become a part of your
legal psychotherapy record and are documented and archived in your file.
Use of Search Engines- As part of my professional policy, I do not search for clients on
Google or any other search engine unless requested by you to do so, at which time the
search would be documented in your file.
Business Review: The CRPO does not permit psychotherapists to solicit reviews or testimonials.
Please raise any questions you may have about this policy, when we next speak. Thank
you.
